Manage inventory record types
Configure the record types available in your inventory. Each record type has associated fields and stakeholder types that can be customized for your organization’s unique requirements.
Prerequisites
Add or edit record types
In the left sidebar, click Settings.
Under Inventory, select Inventory Record Types.
Here you can edit existing inventory record types, or add a new one:
Click Add Inventory Record Type.
Enter a name for your record type.
Include optional information for your record type:
- Enter a description to indicate the purpose of the record type displayed on the list of record types.
- Enter a URL-safe slug where a list of records of this type will be accessible in your ValidMind Platform URL under the inventory path.2
- Select the document types available to be created for this record type.3
- Select the artifact types available to be logged on this record type.4
- Select the stakeholder types that should be displayed on this record type.5
- Select the default stakeholder types that should be displayed by default on this record type.
When you are satisfied with the setup of your record type, click Create.

kebab-caseformat.
To edit an existing record type:
Click on the record type you want to edit.
Make your desired changes to your record type, then click Update.
Enable or disable record types
To hide or show record types from the inventory:
In the left sidebar, click Settings.
Under Inventory, select Inventory Record Types.
Click on the record type you want to enable or disable:
- Toggle disabled to hide the record type from the inventory.6
- Untoggle disabled to show the record type in the inventory.
Click Update to save your changes.
6 Disabling a record type will hide the record type from the inventory and prevent new records of that type from being created.
